This situation arose due to a bridge collapse.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Madmaheshwar temple is an integral part of the Panch Kedar group of temples in Uttarakhand, situated at an elevation of 11,473 ft.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) promptly deployed personnel to assist in the operation. On Wednesday, 190 pilgrims were airlifted via helicopter, while 53 were rescued on Tuesday using the rope river crossing method. The state disaster control room provided these details on Wednesday evening.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>During Monday's downpour, a bridge at Bantoli in Gaundar village collapsed, leaving around 290 pilgrims stranded along the route. The continuous heavy rainfall has triggered landslides that caused the destruction of structures and resulted in rivers and streams overflowing, leading to incidents where people were swept away.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>To facilitate the rescue operation, a temporary helipad was established with the assistance of local residents at Nanu Khark, approximately seven kilometers from the Madmaheshwar temple.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The pilgrims are being airlifted from Nanu Khark and transported to Ransi village, from where they continue their journey on foot to their respective destinations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At the Madmaheshwar temple, adequate supplies of food have been provided to cater to the needs of the stranded pilgrims. Additionally, a medical team, along with a police sub-inspector, has been deployed at the location to ensure the well-being of those involved in the rescue and relief efforts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
